od 1855 kapelan klasztoru w Wörishofen w Bawarii; wprowadził naturalist. metodę leczenia (tzw. metodę Kneippa); negował wartość medycyny nauk., zwalczał wszelkie leki, zwłaszcza pochodzenia chem., oraz używki (herbatę, kawę), natomiast zalecał zioła i kawę zbożową; Moje leczenie wodą (1886, wyd. pol. 1895).
