Excerpt from Venezuela-British Guiana Boundary Arbitration: Digest of Evidence Arranged According to Subjects<br><br>The delta of the Orinoco is bounded on one side by the Vegre River, and on the other by what may be looked upon as the main stream of the Orinoco itself, flowing south of Tortola and Imataca Islands.<br><br>The geological formation of the delta proper is, I believe, different from that of the coast region south of the Orinoco. The former is composed of the débris brought down by the river itself, and is dark in color, the latter is largely composed of sand, and much lighter in appearance.
