At two o'clock, Friday morning, October 12th (new Style, October 215t), 1492; debarking at daybreak, and devoutly calling the island where he landed San Salvador; deserted by Martin Pinzon, the captain of the Pinta; discovering the island of Hayti, and naming it Hispaniola (spanish Land), believing it to be Japan; disheartened by the wreck of his own flag ship, the Santa Maria starting for his homeward course.

About the Publisher

Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
