Linda knows that life can change from one moment to the next
when a tragic accident ended her husband's life. A dream motivated
her to buy an apartment in Bramblefield House and her interest
in the building brought Rose to England.
Rose, an American national, is the great granddaughter of the
woman who had inherited Bramblefield House. She has come to
England to find out what happened to her great-great grandfather;
Albert Bramblefield who disappeared in 1892.
Early in 1900, an argument between a mother and daughter breaks
up a family that had more than most people would wish for. A
century later, two strangers meet and discover that they are related.
When Rose and Linda find out that they are cousins, Linda can't
forgive their great-grandmother. Linda grew up with the knowledge
that her own grandmother was disowned by her wealthy family.
Rose didn't know about the family dispute.
After the long-nurtured resentment is discussed, Linda and Rose
both agree that their great grandmother and grandmother were
both wrong, and because in Rose's family no one had talked about
it, the feud became a secret.
The story deals with grief, the Catholic Religion, the meaning of
dreams, and love.
