Funny, candid and informative e-mails sent from a mother to her adult children whilst on a British Government education contract on the island of St Helena. It portrays something of the people and life on the island before the coming of the airport, and charts the author's efforts to maintain a semblance of normality and sanity within the confines of an island roughly 9 miles long and 5 miles wide in the middle of the South Atlantic.
