The Primary Ethnical Groups<br><br>Comprehensive English works on ethnology in the stricter sense of the term, works such as those of Dr Prichard, Messrs N ott and Gliddon, and Dr Latham, were all composed before the appearance Of Darwin's Origin of Species with which biological studies make a fresh start. Since then special branches of the subject, such as the evolution and antiquity of Man, primitive culture, the Stone and Bronze Ages, and the origin of civilisation, have been treated by several eminent men of science, conspicuous among whom are Sir Charles Lyell, Professor Huxley, Darwin himself, Professor E. B. Tylor, Sir John Evans, Sir John Lubbock and Professor Boyd Dawkins.
