Excerpt from History of the Camerons: With Genealogies of the Principal Families of the Name<br><br>The portion of the book devoted to the career of General Sir Allan Cameron of Erracht, has been re-written from a series of articles, on that distinguished soldier, that appeared, anonymously, in the first volume of the Celfz'c Magazine; and for the sketch of Colonel John Cameron of Fassiefern, distinguished in the same field, I am mainly indebted to the account of his life, by the Rev. Archibald Clerk, LL.D., of Kilmallie to whom I am also under Obligation for the valuable papers from which are taken the interesting Appendices at the end of the volume.
