Readers of "The Brickyard Murders" will be steeped in suspense while trying to figure out this murder mystery. In a usually quiet area of Calhoun County, Alabama, at the foot of Heflin Mountain, danger lurks around Southeastern Brick Company. Bodies begin showing up in unusual places around the brickyard, but it seems that no one has a clue about who is responsible for these heinous crimes. Everyone is a suspect. Tension and anxiety are rampant. The workers wonder who they can trust, but most importantly they wonder what is going to happen next. Gus O'Dell, the main character in this novel, finds himself in the center of a murder investigation. Is he guilty of these murders, is someone out to frame him, or will he himself fall victim to the killer, or killers? If arrested, will he be able to clear himself of any wrongdoing? Danny McCarty does a terrific job of developing the plot in this "whodunit". Having worked at one time in a brickyard himself, Danny was inspired to write this story after using his knowledge of the working procedures and conditions in a brickyard, along with his imagination, to come up with a very realistic story. There will be plenty of twists and turns along the way as this mystery unwinds.
