These methods or, as Dr. Hinkle has pointed out, types of method, known to medical science, differ only in the means employed, the path by which the result has been reached, which is the same in every case. Yet there is much confusion of mind as to what methods are practical and what methods are effective in applying psycho therapy.<br><br>Of the methods used to-day by psychotherapists and medical men the oldest is that of hypnotism. There is in some quarters a profound dis trust of hypnotism. Dr. Hinkle points out, and on this the best authorities agree, that in hypnotism itself there is no therapeutic effect.
