Depression is an innate, transcendent function of the psyche. Depression is the process of bringing the conscious ego into equal contact with the unconscious contents, but within the conscious field, with the ultimate goal of ego transformation. Mindfulness-based meditation and psychedelics only accelerate and strengthen the natural transcendent function of the psyche, after which depression disappears because its role is fulfilled.
