T to which all minifiers, of all times, and in all circumf'tanees, have al ways pretended to direct their difi'erent fyfltems of mea fures but there has been, within thefe left twenty months, fach a variety of events, fuch contrariety of judgment, fuch fin gularity of public meafures, that the mind is nearly overfet in tracing the origin, or in calculating the confequences of them. No jui't conception can be formed, no fair Opinion can be adopted, no profitab'e inference can be drawn from any, even of the lead~ ing facts, if taken fingly, and confidered upon the naked grounds of their infulated merits. The Whole train of operations mui'c be collected into one view, and each link of the chain examined With fcrupulous, but unbiall'ed feverity. The plot of the piece is noc fo new, as the Winding up of the catai'crophe threatens to be alarming.
