Apparent that each woman is a law unto herself in the matter of outer equipments at least, and we may notice in passing that her gaze seems to be largely concentrated upon her own par ticular regiment without a proper regard as to the manner in which its manoeuvres or actions may affect those in front, behind or on either side. We turn our attention again to the ranks and take notice of the in dividual members, but only here and there do we find an opportunity for a really favorable criticism. Never theless, now and again, our eyes are attracted to one who always stands at attention, constantly observant that she is in line, not elbowing, keeping her place ia deed, but always with a due regard to those about her. She is alert, active, erect, well disciplined, yet withal of a modest demeanor and bearing. Her face tells the story for her that she has either brought from the out set into this work a mind and body well taught and self-disciplined, or else that she has been long in the ranks and under fire many times, and in the course of the struggle has attained an experience that always serves to tell her on the instant the difference between right. And wrong - what to do and what not to do.
