<p>Most Enterprises organise themselves around the tried and tested &ldquo;Business&rdquo; and &ldquo;IT&rdquo; way of thinking, and their departments and CxOs. This is understandable and has served us well over the years. However, this paradigm is no longer appropriate.</p><p>In the 21st century, the &ldquo;IT&rdquo; of an Enterprise is so inextricably linked to &ldquo;The Business&rdquo; of an Enterprise, it is impossible to decide where &ldquo;The Business&rdquo; stops and &ldquo;IT&rdquo; begins. In fact for many Enterprises today, &ldquo;IT&rdquo; is the business to a large extent. So, does this mean handing over the management and direction of the Enterprise to &ldquo;IT&rdquo;? No. that would be ludicrous, but so is thinking in terms of &ldquo;The Business&rdquo; and &ldquo;IT&rdquo;. So what do we do? How can we square this circle? How can we think and organise enterprises in the 21st Century?
