This book explains the meaning of the word in the language system from different perspectives, the notions of competence and performance, additionally, it explains the differences between word and vocabulary, teaching and acquisition. The work shows the concepts of teaching strategies, based on the Oxford (1990) list, divided into direct and indirect strategies. The book also presents the research process and its results based on Silesian cities in Poland.
