Excerpt from Awareness in the Inductive Solution of Problems Using Words as Stimuli

The responses were classified into three main types; emotional, intellectual, and superficial. These types, in turn, were subdivided into 18 classes, according to a system used by Jung. Two of these classes, both of the superficial type, are important here: the speech motor response, and the word completing or word compound ing response. Both of these would be considered, within the mean ing of the present series of experiments, as showing a tendency to follow the sequential patterns of speech and writing. From a somewhat later paper presenting a simplified classification into five types of response, it is apparent that some responses classi fied otherwise by him might reasonably be classified as falling in the same sequential pattern, e.g., crooked - line, invent - machine, never - decide.

About the Publisher

Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
