<p>Broken by a tragic loss, Lily Vines receives a letter written by her grandmother before her death, bequeathing Lily her estate.<br />
Desperate to escape the city and reminders of what could have been, Lily returns to her childhood home in Sweethaven to figure out what to do with her inheritance, a big country house, acres of orchard and a town full of broken people.<br />
Despite her best efforts to be done with the place, Irishman Patrick O’Connor knocks on her door. He is soon followed by the lesbian café owners, a burly Texan, a quiet Maori man and a mysterious Englishwoman.<br />
She finds herself unable to leave, even when the town's old wounds are reopened and the truth about Lily's family and her mother's death is revealed.</p>
